Obama's mad hatters converge on Denver's Democratic Convention

The Democratic convention in Denver plays host to colourful characters on both the main stage and the fringes of the party.
One of the most striking speakers to rouse the Democratic faithful so far this week, at least perhaps until Bill Clinton takes the floor, has been the jeans-clad governor of Montana, Brian Schweitzer, with his surprisingly popular call for Americans to end their reliance on oil.
He is an example of one of the many colourful eccentrics meeting at Denver's convention centre floor this week.
