Snow mostly clearing away east followed by heavy, blustery showers. Band of heavy rain and snow over many parts at first clearing away eastwards. The snow mainly from central Wales and the north Midlands, northwards. Snow heavy over northern hills and drifting in strong southerly winds. Blustery, heavy showers following. Rain and snow persisting for much of the night across northeastern Scotland. Frequent, heavy showers, some falling as hail, over many southern and western parts of Britain. Eastern parts dry. Rain or sleet over northern and eastern Scotland clearing only slowly eastwards. Frequent heavy showers or longer spells of rain over southern and western England and Wales. Southwest very windy. A band of snow, some heavy, will spread from the west during the early hours of Thursday and continue during the first part of the morning, clearing away eastwards by around dawn.
