There are a couple of routes to becoming
a human anatomist. Most train in medicine before developing a specialist
interest in anatomy; though some train first in professions that are
allied to medicine, such as nursing or physiotherapy.
The
second route, for those who have a more general interest in biology,
is via a life sciences degree. If your main interest is human anatomy
though, it’s worth checking that the university of your choice
does offer human anatomy courses as part of their degree program.
Many universities offer degrees in human biology in which anatomy
is a core course; these are a good starting point for those who’d
like to work as academic anatomists in a university department.
